IIT-B grad throws hat in Bihar poll ring
Launches party of professionals to contest 25 seats
Patna: He is an IIT-Bombay alumnus with a B-Tech in aerospace
engineering. He also holds a double masters degree in
technology (MS from Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta)
and a master’s degree in economics (New York University),
apart from an LLB from Government Law College, Mumbai.
With his qualifications, he could have easily landed a
lucrative job within the country or abroad. Yet, Tanmay
Rajpurohit chose to do something else. After studying
abroad, he returned to India, carried out political research
and realizing the need for a political movement finally
launched a party the Hindu Pratinidhi Sabha (HPS) comprising
groups of young individuals, including IITians, lawyers
and doctors.
Recently in Patna, Rajpurohit announced his party’s
plans to contest 25 assembly seats in the upcoming Bihar
elections.
Asked what inspired him to enter the political arena,
the Vadodara - born Rajpurohit said he formed the HPS
after being disgusted with the rampant corruption, lack
of a national identity and social fragmentation along
caste and religious lines. The HPS aims not only to bring
clean and educated people to mainstream politics but also
revitalize the political conscience of our great civilization,
he said.
Rajpurohit, who did his schooling from a municipal school,
ascribed the root cause of the political degradation to
the crisis of national identity. It led to disintegration
of the national polity, provided grounds for the political
criminals to go on the rampage, he said. He added that
the primary objective of the movement is to forge a Hindu
identity.
