All medical seats in Guj colleges filled up
Ahmedabad: All seats of open and reserved categories in medical courses were filled on the fourth day of centralised admission process.
In dental courses too all seats of the open category have been filled.
These seats, with the seats filled in other para-medical streams, sum up to 2,947. The state has around 5,500 seats for medical, dental and paramedical course.
The merit score for admission this year, for the open category, was lower than last few years, as admission ended at 79.32 per cent for medical and at 66.98 per cent in dental courses.
“The only vacant seats in medical courses are the eight seats in NHL Medical College, Ahmedabad, for local students in the ST category and two seats in Surat Municipal Medical College for SC category,” said a source from the Admission Committee for Professional Medical Educational Courses.
The source added, “In dental colleges, there are 31 seats vacant in SC category, 143 seats vacant in SCBC category and 147 in other reserved category.”
The reshuffling in the medical courses is expected as 100 seats in dental and 455 seats in ayurvedic colleges are still awaiting approval from their respective councils.
