Admission schedule for post-SSC engineering diploma
seats revised
Pune: The directorate of technical education (DTE) has
announced an extended admission schedule for the post-SSC
engineering diploma seats at polytechnics across the state.
The fresh deadline for online submission of application
form through the website: www.dte.org.in/poly2010 and
verification of documents at the application receipt centres
(ARCs) is now July 22.
The move comes in the wake of the Supreme Court’s
interim order of July 13 allowing the state government
to apply the ‘Best 5’ policy to SSC as well
as other board students, including ICSE.
According to the post-SSC diploma admission rules, which
the DTE had approved much before the ‘Best 5’
policy was announced by the state government, the students’
aggregate score calculated on the basis of marks in all
six subjects was to be considered for admissions.
The legal row over the ‘Best 5’ issue had
had the DTE in a quandary over whether to go ahead with
the admissions. It preferred keeping its options open
and wait for the apex court ruling.
As a result, the deadline for online submission of application
form and verification of documents at the application
receipt centres (ARCs) was extended from July 7 to 14.
Following the apex court’s ruling, the DTE has extended
the deadline up to July 22 to enable extension of ‘Best
5’ benefits to students from all the boards.
