Hiccups greet ICSE students ON DAY ONE
Govt Resolution Clarifies Issue Of Sports Quota Marks
For Other Boards
Mumbai: Online glitches meant that the first day of admissions
proved fruitless for many ICSE students.
“Filling up the entire form once again is extremely
frustrating. This is all that we have been doing since
the time we got our results. I am just really glad that
the process finally started once again and am hoping that
there’ll be no further delays,’’ said
Monish Zaidi, an ICSE student.
Most ICSE schools have already prepared the scores of
their students according to the best-five policy, to help
them with the admissions process.
The first day otherwise went on smoothly as students and
parents showed up in full strength at their respective
schools in the city on Friday morning. About 55,200 students,
according to the Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation, will
be seeking admission to junior colleges this year.
Computer labs were bustling with anxious students trying
to get done with filling of forms. “The process
went off smoothly and there were

no glitches at all. We called our students in batches
to avoid crowds at any given point of time. The process
should get over by Monday,’’ said Poonam Arora,
principal of Bombay Cambridge School in Andheri (W).
Moreover, after all the confusion surrounding the marks
given under the sports quota, which has now been extended
to students from other boards as well for junior college
admission this year, a GR on Friday finally cleared the
air. Students from the ICSE board who wish to avail of
marks under the sports quota will first have to get their
certificates attested by the District Sports Officer (DSO).
“The process is similar to what the state board
students followed. After the attestation from the DSO,
schools will verify and approve the certificates. The
final certification will take place soon, where students
can take the approved certificates and apply for marks
under the sports quota,’’ said Perin Bagli,
principal of Activity School, Pedder Road.
