Wait ends for CET aspirants
Bangalore: The wait is finally over. The seat selection
process for engineering courses spread across 143 colleges
will most certainly begin on July 14.
“We will start CET counselling for engineering seats
from July 14 following a nod from the All India Council
for Technical Education (AICTE),” said higher education
minister Aravind Limbavali.
Making a suo motu statement in the legislative council
on Wednesday, the minister said they decided to go ahead
with the CET following the approval of their proposal
by the AICTE to go with previous year’s seat matrix.
As per the previous year seat matrix, he said the number
of seats available for CET counselling was 36,524 spread
across 167 colleges but this year pending approval the
number of seats is 30,512 across 143 colleges. “There
has been no information about the intake of seats in 24
colleges, but in about 13 colleges there is partial information
about the intake of only a few courses,” Limbavali
added.
The counselling earlier was scheduled to begin from June
18 which was then postponed to July 7. The reason for
the postponement was the delay on part of AICTE in renewing
the permission given to engineering colleges to conduct
admissions.
