It’s mission Mars at IIT-B’s Tech Fest
Mumbai: Organisers of IIT Bombay’s three-day Tech Fest have found inspiration India’s plans to launch an unmanned mission to Mars.
One of the workshops at this annual festival will focus on Mars Rover and guide the participants in making a robot that propels itself on the red planet’s surface after landing. The workshop will be held on the first two days of the Tech Fest, scheduled to be organised from January 22 to January 24 at the institute’s Powai campus.
Avinash Singh, a thirdyear aerospace engineering student, said, “Over 500 students from across the country applied for the workshop but we have been able to admit only 50.’’
Students would learn about a rover’s basic technology and how it operates on the surface of Mars, Singh added. As a part of the project, each participant will be provided kits.
Isro officials said the space agency would firm up its decision on the Mars mission once there is consensus among the scientific community regarding the type of experiments to be conducted.
