Over 13 lakh students to appear for HSC exam
7,54,929 Boys,5,45,620 Girls Registered With Board
Pune: As many as 13,00,549 students will appear for the
Standard XII Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination
conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary
and Higher Secondary Education from February 23.
A statement issued by the board here on Saturday said
that out of the total students registered,7,54,929 are
boys and 5,45,620 are girls who will appear for the examination
through 6,610 junior colleges. There will be 1,946 exam
centres in all.
The stream-wise break up of students is science: 3,68,361
students, arts: 5,36,034;commerce: 3,33,893 and minimum
competency-based vocational course: 62,261.
The statement said that the multiple question paper system
will be followed for the English subject. About 30 per
cent of the questions based on textbooks will be different
in each of the question papers in the multiple question
paper set.
Meanwhile, students have been told to make a project on
environment education, which will be marked on 40.The
written exam for this subject will carry 60 marks. For
passing in this compulsory subject, students must get
a minimum of 14 marks in the project and 21 marks in the
written exam. Students are examined on this subject at
the junior college level and the marks obtained by each
student is converted into grades which are then conveyed
to the board.
The statement said that the time limit for writing the
geography question paper has been increased from the earlier
limit of two-and-half hours to three hours. However, no
changes have been made in the curriculum.
