Soon,nuclear engg in colleges: Bhatkar
Pune: Eminent scientist Vijay Bhatkar said on F r i d
ay that nuclear engineering c o u r s e s will soon m
a ke way into engineering coll e g e s. Bhatkar was speaking
at the socio-technical event Technotryst , organised by
the Cummins College of engineering for women.
Bhatkar said, India is signing a nuclear treaty and a
lot will be done in this area in the coming years by our
country. We will be leading in nuclear technology in the
world and soon it will be time to introduce nuclear engineering
courses in engineering classes. In future, Indian engineers
will go the US and build, create and operate nuclear power
plants.
The college, run by the Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan
Samstha, organised this event in association with the
Computer Society of India, student branch,and the Institution
of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers at the
Cummins college.
The Technotryst event is in its seventh year and is an
effort to bridge the gap between industry and academics.
The two-day event that was inaugurated on Friday will
have technology seminars and presentations with key industry
people participating in it.
Bhatkar, speaking about the mobile revolution, said, In
2002, the mobile subscription in India was just one crore
and today it has grown to 70 crore, which has left the
world astounded. At times, we are even adding two crore
subscribers every month and most of the service providers
are from India. Some of the foreign service providers
tried to penetrate the market but could not survive. Indians
know the way of business in India and hence they thrive
in the market.
Vishwas Deval, chairman, Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan
Samstha and Madhuri Khambete, principal of the college,
among others were present for the inauguration.
A workshop on Hello Android, Googles revolutionary mobile
operating system, will be held between 8.30 am and 1 pm
on Saturday. Besides,a session on opportunities and challenges
for information technology professionals in the field
of finance field, and on opportunities for postgraduate
education will also be held in the post-lunch session.
