30K engg,pharma students seek change
Ahmedabad: About 30,000 students applied for reshuffling
in the second round of admission into engineering and
pharmacy courses on Monday.The final merit list is expected
to be released on August 5.However,the academic session
in all engineering and pharmacy colleges started by July
end.
In the first round of engineering and pharmacy admission,
the merit list ended at 29,000 students.There are 8,500
seats lying vacant as students could not avail admission
on them for want of registration. Meanwhile, 520 seats
have been added into engineering after a new college was
set up with 240 seats and 180 seats were increased in
an old college.
In all,32 colleges out of 150 engineering and pharmacy
colleges opted for the fee waver scheme so that students
would be exempted from tuition fee on 2,100 seats of these
colleges.Before the admission started,only seven colleges
had opted for fee waver scheme.The second round of admission
is likely to be concluded by August 10.
