Introduction

Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences (SIHS) is a proud member of the prestigious Symbiosis International University (SIU). Courses offered :

B.Sc. Medical Technology Programme : Intake – 120 seats

  Specializations:

Cardiac Care Technology: The Cardiac Care Technologist is responsible for direct and indirect patient care,    haemo-dynamic monitoring, equipment set up and operation. They assist the physician during cardiac    procedures and assume responsibility for completion of other cath lab functions as assigned.

Respiratory Care Technology: The Respiratory Care Technologist is a key member of the medical team,    specializing in diagnostics, treatments, and procedures in the care of patients with respiratory problems.    They evaluate, treat, and care for patients with breathing disorders.

Dialysis Technology: Dialysis Technologists operate machines that remove waste and excess fluids from    the blood of patients whose kidneys can no longer carry out those functions. The programme is designed to    provide the student with a comprehensive introduction to the field of dialysis and the skills required for    entry-level employments as a Dialysis technologist.

Imaging Sciences Technology: Imaging Sciences Technologists are health professionals who facilitate    diagnosis and management through the creation of medical imaging using X-rays, ultrasound and magnetic    resonance. They work in collaboration with radiologists and specialist medical practitioners to provide    patients with a range of diagnostic examinations.

 Clinical Medical Lab. Technology: Medical Lab. Technology is concerned with the analysis of biological    specimens to support diagnosis, treatment of disease. The programme introduces students to Pathology,    Biochemistry, Microbiology, Histopathology, Immunology, Molecular Biology etc. which remain the mainstay    in diagnosis.

Operation Theatre and Anesthesia Technology: The Operation Theatre and Anesthesia Technologist is
   responsible for direct and indirect patient care, equipment set up and operation procedures. They assist the
   surgeons during the procedures and assume responsibility for completion of other functions as assigned.

The programme fee excludes examination fees which are payable with first installment and are as below:

Rs. 3000/- each in the year I & II.
Rs. 6000/- in the year III (Convocation & Transcript fees).

Note:
In case of backlog, the fees will be charged separately as per the schedule given by SIDU.
In case of “Term Not Granted (TNG)” the student need not pay the fees for the subsequent attempt.
The fee for the 2nd and 3rd year may be revised as per the hospital attachments.

Eligibility :

Std. XII Pass with any two of the following:

Physics,Chemistry, Biology, Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Mathematics OR equivalent as decided by competent authority.

Working Professionals:

For the candidates who have educational qualification and working experience in Cardiac Care/Respiratory Therapy/Dialysis/Imaging Sciences/Clinical Lab or Operation Theatre & Anesthesia, admissions will be given directly to 2nd year subject to approval of the SI (DU).

Reservation :

Within the Sanctioned Intake:

Scheduled Tribes: 7.5%
Management Quota: 15%
Differently abled: 3%

Over and above the Sanctioned Intake:

Kashmiri Migrants: 2 seats
International Students: 15%

HOW TO APPLY:

SIHS is now part of the Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) which is an entrance test common for all the UG
   programmes of Symbiosis. However the selection of the candidates will be based on the performance in
   XII Std. Science or equivalent examination and Personal Interview (PI) at the institute.

For SET, Candidates will have to register online at www.set-test.org

Registration fees for SET is Rs.1400/- (Inclusive of Prospectus)

The Prospectus is also available at SIHS on payment of Rs.500 by cash or Rs.600/- by post.

Application to SIHS – Registration Fees for SIHS is Rs.1000/- for all candidates.

Payment to be made in CASH or by Demand Draft. DD to be drawn in favour of Symbiosis Institute of
   Health Sciences (SIHS) payable at Pune. Kindly mention in capital, your complete name, postal address
   (with salient landmark) & pin code on reverse of DD & post it to Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences
   (SIHS), Senapati Bapat Road, Pune – 411 004. Fill all requisite certificates & documents (as applicable).

Admission Procedure: Candidates should submit the prescribed application form duly completed along with
   attested photocopies of requisite documents.

Documents required at the time of Admission:

Certificate of passing the qualifying examination.
Mark list.
Migration Certificate in original.
Requisite caste certificate issued by the competent authority, if admission is against reserved category.
Gap Certificate, if applicable.
Certificate of change of name, if applicable supported by documentary evidence like Government Gazette.
Character Certificate.
Transfer Certificate or School Leaving Certificate.

Selection Procedure:

Based on marks in XII Std. Science / Equivalent examination followed by Personal Interview
SET Examination score is preferred.

Facilities :

Healthcare Facilities

Symbiosis Centre of Health Care (SCHC) is the in-house Health Care unit exclusive to the staff and students of the various institutes of Symbiosis. SCHC has a team of specialist doctors who conduct the compulsory annual check up. Out patient treatment is provided to the students by the medical officers of SCHC. The centre also arranges seminars & health education workshops. Each student is insured under Medi – Claim and Road Traffic Accident Policy. A copy of the policy document is available with the Registrar / Office Superintendent. For further details regarding the benefits of the policy, the student should contact the SCHC.

Fitness Facilities

SCHC provides an in-house, modern, health and fitness centre with a view to facilitate a holistic development of mind and body for an all round development of our students at each Symbiosis campus. Training facilities for strength, endurance, flexibility and cardio vascular fitness including Yoga and Meditation is provided in customized capsules suited to the unique requirements of the student population in confirmation with their academic curriculum. The centre thus provides preventive, promotive and curative healthcare services with a view to ensure positive health in all members of the Symbiosis family.

Library

SIHS has a splendid learning resource centre with over 18,000 books, reports, journals, periodicals, CDs and video cassettes.

Computer Lab

The Computer Lab, with broadband connectivity to the Internet and Intranet, boasts of 120 Pentiums with exclusive lease lines.

Wi – Fi campus

Students at SIHS are privy to a Wi – Fi campus. The Wi – Fi campus enables the students to get on – line anywhere on campus without the hassle of wires and plug – ins. The campus, truly, is the high tech face of the new – age SIHS.

Classrooms

All lecture classrooms are well ventilated and equipped with the latest audiovisual facilities.

Auditorium

The in-house facilities include a 600 – seater modern auditorium and a modern conference hall located at Symbiosis Vishwabhavan.

Mess and Cafeteria

An all day Mess and Cafeteria ensures refreshments for busy minds.

Accommodation

For outstation students (Ladies & Gents) accommodation can be arranged at Symbiosis Hostel on first come first serve basis.
