SYMBIOSIS INSTITUTE OF COMPUTER STUDIES AND RESEARCH

Introduction

Established in 1985, SICSR is one of the first institutes in Maharashtra to offer high quality computer education at a time when few existed. In 2002, SICSR became a constituent of the Symbiosis International University and devised programmes, which offered two post-graduate degrees (MBA-IT and M. Sc.-CA) and two undergraduate degrees (BBA-IT and BCA).

HOW TO APPLY

Step 1: Entrance Test Procedures for SET

All Indian students who wish to apply for the BCA or BBA(IT) programme of our Institute are required to appear the ‘Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET), which will be held on 2nd May’2010. Entrance test is mandatory for Management Quota as well. Without this test score, no student is entitled for admission to any course of Symbiosis International University.

Payment of Rs. 1400/- for taking the entrance test through any one mode of payment specified at
www.set-test.org and send proof of payment to the SET secretariat.

Step 2: To apply to Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies & Research (SICSR)

Log on http://sicsr.ac.in

On the home page Click on "UG Admission – 2010” and enter your SET ID and password.

Click on the “SAVE” button after filling the form

Candidate will have to pay Rs 1500/- for registration to SICSR separately.

Select “Payment” and choose your mode of payment i.e. Credit card, Debit card, Net Banking or Demand
draft.

If you are paying the registration fee of Rs. 1500/- by DD, enter DD details and take a print out of the
“Payment Advice”.

Send your Demand Draft along with the Payment Advice to the Institute on or before 21st May 2010.

Click on the “Preview form” and take print of application form.

A system generated email will be send on your email address for confirmation of registration.

Note: By paying Rs.1500/-, candidates can apply for BBA-It or BCA or both programmes.

SELECTION PROCEDURE

The selection procedure consists of following steps:

The candidates who have registered for SICSR will be short-listed for GD/PI based on their SET test score.
The short-list will be put up on http://sicsr.ac.in on 24th May 2010. E-mail confirming your selection will be
sent to the e-mail id provided at the time of registration.

GD/PI will be conducted on 31st May 2010 & 1st June 2010 at SICSR, Pune only. At the time of GD/PI
candidates should submit following documents:

Online registration form along with his/her photograph and sign on it.

Attested photocopies of SSC, HSC. In case you are appearing for HSC examination, kindly attach
photocopies of XI mark list and XII Admit card.

An attested copy of the category certificate, if applying for a category seat.

Original certificates should be carried by the student for verification at the time of GD/PI

Merit list will be displayed on the Institute’s website. E-Mail message confirming selection will be sent to the
e-mail id and selection letter will be dispatched on your address provided at the time of registration.

The selected candidate is required to pay the fees as per the schedule to secure the admission; otherwise
the seat will be given to next candidate in the merit list.

The acceptance of fees by the Institute does not mean that the admission is confirmed, as all admissions
are subject to fulfillment of eligibility criteria of SIU.

The distribution of marks for the selection procedure will be as follows:

SET Test: 100 Marks [50% of SET Score]

Group Discussion: 20 Marks

Personal Interview: 30 Marks

Note: Equivalent score in merit list is sequenced as per HSC marks.

The institute boasts of 7 state of the art labs meant for academic requirements such as:

Specialization labs for Rational Rose and ERP solutions.

Specialization labs for J2EE and J2ME.

Electronics lab for digital electronics courses and embedded systems.

Dedicated labs (2 each) for Bachelors Degree Courses as well as for Masters(Master's degree programmes)

WI-Fi :

SICSR campus is a Wi Fi enabled campus.

Comprehending the vast expanse of the internet for referring to many journals and publications, the campus is enabled with this facility.

Students can access the web round the clock in the labs and also on their laptops even after the normal college hours.

Cafeteria :

Our canteen is not only a place to fill appetite but also a venue for a mélange of ideas & views to converge and give rise to innovative ventures.

It has a mess, which offers vegetarian delicacies, and caters to diverse palates.

And for the health freaks, we have a dedicated juice corner serving fresh fruit juices.

Delicious food is prepared following strict standards of hygiene. (which is not just good for the stomach but doubles up as food for thought too!!!)

Health Care

The Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences (SIHS) is an in house Health Care Centre exclusively for the staff & students of the various institutes of Symbiosis. The SIHS has a team of specialist doctors who conduct the (compulsory) annual health check up. Out patient treatment is provided to the students by the medical officers of SIHS. The Centre also arranges seminars & health education workshops.

Each student is insured under the Mediclaim & Road Traffic Accident Policy. A copy of the policy document is available with the Registrar / O.S. For further details regarding the benefits of the policy, the student should contact SIHS.

SIHS also provides an in house, modern, state of art health club & fitness centre with a view to facilitate a holistic development of mind & body for an all round development of our students. Training facilities for strength, endurance, flexibility & cardiovascular fitness including Yoga & Meditation will be provided in customized capsules suited to the unique requirements of the student population in conformation with their academic curriculum.

The Centre thus provides preventive, promotive as well as curative health care services with a view to ensure positive health in all members of Symbiosis Family.
