Introduction
Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, was established
by an Act of Govt. of Uttar Pradesh in 2005, U.P.Act No.28
of 2005 and came into being on 4th January
2006 to meet up the new challenges in legal fields and
to strengthen the vision that was given by the establishment
first National Law School of the country. |
Courses offered :
B.A, LL.B. (Hons.)
Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University offers
B.A., L.L.B. (Hons.), integrated five years full time
course.
Eligibility :
Candidate
willing to take admission for B.A., L.L.B. (Hons) program
has to go through the Common Law Admission
Test (CLAT). CLAT would be conducted hereafter every
year by each of National Law Schools on rotation
as per the criterion of seniority. The NLSIU, Bangalore,
the oldest of the National Law Schools will set
the process in motion by undertaking to conduct the
admission test for the academic year 2008-09.
To be eligible for taking CLAT-2009, a candidate should
have passed Higher Secondary School / Intermediate
Examination (10+2) or its equivalent examination with
not less than 50% marks in aggregate (45%
in case of SC/ST/OBC* and Persons with Disability*) and
should not be more than 20 years of age on
1st July, 2009 (22 years incase of C/ST/OBC*
and Persons with Disability*).
Candidates appearing for Standard XII examination in the
year of admission shall also be permitted to take
the National Entrance Test, but their admission to the
course shall be subject to fulfilling the conditions stipulated
in the Regulations at the time of admission and production
of documentary evidence of their eligibility.
All admissions shall be completed before 15th
May of every year.
Intake & Reservation :
Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University admits
160 students for the B.A., L.L.B. (Hons.) program.
Subject to the provisions of section 17 of the Act,
reservation in admission to various courses for the
members of Schedule Castes, Schedule
Tribes and Other Backward Classes of the State of Uttar
Pradesh and other categories shall
be provided in accordance to the rules of U.P. State
Government. Horizontal reservation
shall be admissible to persons with disability and dependents
of freedom fighters as per Government
rules. Provided that if sufficient number of eligible
candidates to the concerned reserved seats are
not available, the unfilled seats shall be filled by
the General category candidates on the basis of their
merit/score in Admission Test.
Note: Candidates with compartment / supplementary
in any subject in the qualifying examinations are not
eligible for the admission.
PROCEDURE FOR OBTAINING OF APPLICATION FORM AND SUBMISSION
The Application Forms are available from 12th
January, 2009 at the nominated branches of Indian Bank,
State Bank of India and eleven National
Law Schools. The addresses of the branches of banks are
available on http://www.clat.ac.in/
website.
The Application Form can also be downloaded from CLAT
website and the duly filled-in Form in own hand writing
should be sent to CLAT Office along with a demand draft
for Rs. 2,500/- (Rs. 2,000/- in case of SC/ST)
drawn in favor of ‘Convenor, CLAT-2009 (NALSAR)’
payable at Hyderabad.
The Application Form can also be obtained from CLAT
office by sending a demand draft for Rs. 2,500/- (Rs.
2,000/- in case of SC / ST with proof)
drawn in favor of ‘Convenor, CLAT-2009 (NALSAR)’
payable at Hyderabad.
The last date for submission of duly filled-in Application
Form is 10th April, 2009.
Candidates who wish to apply under Foreign National
Category are required to check the instructions and
use the Application Form provided
for that purpose on CLAT website. For further information
and details, candidates are required
to visit website of the concerned University.

FACILITIES
Library
The University Central Library occupies a central location
commanding a spectacular view of the quadrangle and hostels.
The reading room is spread over 758 sq. meters of floor
space, providing 400 seats. As of 2006 the Library
has a collection of more than 10000 books and more than
5000 volumes of bound periodicals as well a sizeable
collection of electronic materials in CD-ROMs and legal
databases providing online access via major legal
platforms including SCC, Grand Jurix, and Manupatra online. Currently
the library subscribes to 124 journals including top-notch
international publications - Journal of World Trade,
American Journal of International Law, International
Legal Materials, Economist & Time to name a few.
The library archives hold the complete set of all England
Law Reports from 1558 to date, All India Reports
1920 onwards, Fleet Street Reports, US Supreme Court Reports
and other equally noteworthy collections. Tertiary
facilities like photocopying, printing and internet facilities
are available within the library.
