Introduction
The National Law University, Jodhpur is an institution
of national prominence established under the National
Law University, Jodhpur, Act, 1999 (Act No. 22 of 1999)
enacted by the Rajasthan State Legislature. The University
is established for the advancement of learning, teaching,
research and diffusion of knowledge in the field of law.
It caters to the needs of the society by developing professional
skills of persons intending to make a career in advocacy,
judicial service, law officer / managers and legislative
drafting as their profession. NLU is one of the first
institutions in India to offer degrees viz. B.B.A., LL.B.
(Hons.); B.A., LL.B. (Hons.); and B.Sc., LL.B. (Hons.)
at the undergraduate level. |
Courses offered :
B.A, LL.B. (Hons.)
NLU offers B.A., L.L.B. (Hons), integrated five years
full time course.
Eligibility :
Candidate
willing to take admission for B.A., L.L.B. (Hons) program
has to go through the Common Law Admission
Test (CLAT). CLAT would be conducted hereafter every
year by each of National Law Schools on rotation
as per the criterion of seniority. The NLSIU, Bangalore,
the oldest of the National Law Schools will set
the process in motion by undertaking to conduct the
admission test for the academic year 2008-09.
To be eligible for taking CLAT-2009, a candidate should
have passed Higher Secondary School / Intermediate
Examination (10+2) or its equivalent examination with
not less than 50% marks in aggregate (45%
in case of SC/ST/OBC* and Persons with Disability*) and
should not be more than 20 years of age on
1st July, 2009 (22 years incase of SC/ST/OBC*
and Persons with Disability*).
Intake: The intake capacity of all the
three undergraduate degree programmes (B.B.A., LL.B. (Hons),
B.Sc., LL.B. (Hons), B.A., LL.B. (Hons), put together
is 100 students.)
Reservation: The break up of the intake
capacity is as under:
Scheduled cast: 15%
Scheduled Tribes: 7. 5%
3% seats in each category are reserved for physically
challenged students.
Candidates appearing for the qualifying examination
can also appear provisionally. However, they shall have
to produce proof of having passed the qualifying exam
before or at the time counseling with detailed mark
sheet.
Note: Candidates with compartment / supplementary
in any subject in the qualifying examination are not eligible
for the admission.
PROCEDURE FOR OBTAINING OF APPLICATION FORM AND SUBMISSION
The
Application Forms are available from 12th January,
2009 at the nominated branches of Indian Bank, State
Bank of India and eleven National Law Schools. The addresses
of the branches of banks are available
on http://www.clat.ac.in/
website.
The
Application Form can also be downloaded from CLAT website
and the duly filled-in Form in own hand writing
should be sent to CLAT Office along with a demand draft
for Rs.2,500/- (Rs. 2,000/- in case of SC/ST)
drawn in favor of ‘Convenor, CLAT-2009 (NALSAR)’
payable at Hyderabad.
The
Application Form can also be obtained from CLAT office
by sending a demand draft for Rs. 2,500/- (Rs. 2,000/-
in case of SC / ST with proof) drawn in favor of ‘Convenor,
CLAT-2009 (NALSAR)’ payable at Hyderabad.
The
last date for submission of duly filled-in Application
Form is 10th April, 2009.
Candidates
who wish to apply under Foreign National Category are
required to check the instructions and use
the Application Form provided for that purpose on CLAT
website. For further information and details, candidates
are required to visit website of the concerned University.
Note: Incomplete applications will be
rejected.
PLACEMENTS
The National Law University, Jodhpur is being recognized
as a ‘market facing law school in India’ by
the industry experts. The students have been recruited
by national regulators, senior counsels, reputed national
and international law firms, corporates, and financial
institutions. The pay packages offered by the national
law firms range between Rs. 4.8 lakh to Rs. 14 lakh per
annum, whereas, the international law firms have
offered packages between Rs. 28 lakh to Rs. 30 lakh per
annum in the previous year. The pay packages of corporates
range between Rs. 4.5 lakh to Rs. 11 lakh per annum for
the previous year.

FACILITIES
NLU proudly acclaims the largest campus spanning in 50
Acers of land with excellent infrastructure. The campus
was planned with an extremely futuristic vision, taking
into account the need for adequate acoustics in each classroom,
for comfortable work stations for each faculty member,
for sports and recreational facilities.
Halls of Residence
University mandates students’ residence within its
campus. The University has sprawling halls of residences
for boys and girls separately. University provides single
accommodation; student having a room with a balcony facing
green campus. Every room has been provided with internet
and a separate telephone connection. All the Halls of
Residence are well connected through a LAN at 100Mbps
connectivity.
Library
The Library of National Law University Jodhpur has a collection
of more than 10,000 books. The library subscribes to more
than a 100 Indian and foreign journals ranging from subjects
like law to specializations like forensic science, psychology
and ethics. The library also subscribes to online services
from Westlaw,
J-stor and Manupatra. Library services are fully automated
with SOUL software with bar-code enabled technology. The
library is also fully enabled with wi-fi access to internet
and digital library services.
IT Services
University is extremely IT savvy with Wi-Fi connectivity
through out the campus and 24 hour (except 2.00 AM to
5.00 AM) availability of the internet at 4Mbps speed .The
University has a student computer ratio of 1:1 and
each student is connected globally 24x7. The University
has subscribed to online libraries like westlaw,
manupatra and jstor. Academic block has a well-equipped
computer Lab with latest configuration. It has 4 Mbps
Internet facilities.
Mess / Canteen
There is a well-furnished Mess block with proper sitting
arrangements. Hygienic veg and non-veg nutritious food
is served to the students.
Sports Facilities
NLU has provided sports facilities. Currently the School
has a Sports Complex with Indoor Badminton Hall and Tennis
Court. Apart from this NLS have fitness center and Gym
facilities one exclusive for girls and one for boys.
