Introduction
NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, an institution of
national eminence in the field of legal education and
research, is a residential University established in 1998
under the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research
University Act (Andhra Pradesh Act 34 of 1998) of the
Andhra Pradesh State Legislature. The University provides
an opportunity to explore limitless options in legal profession
and is setting new standards in legal education. The University
has as its primary mission to create a generation of able,
competent and humane lawyers who will not only enter the
Bar and Bench but will also be equipped to address effectively
the imperatives of the new millennium and to engage in
community services. The University Grants Commission has
recognized NALSAR under sections 2 (f) and 12 (b) of the
UGC Act, 1956. |
Courses
offered :
B.A, LL.B. (Hons.)
NALSAR offers B.A., L.L.B. (Hons), integrated five years
full time semester course.
Eligibility :
Candidate
willing to take admission for B.A., L.L.B. (Hons) program
has to go through the Common Law Admission
Test (CLAT). CLAT would be conducted hereafter every
year by each of National Law Schools on rotation
as per the criterion of seniority. The NLSIU, Bangalore,
the oldest of the National Law Schools will set
the process in motion by undertaking to conduct the
admission test for the academic year 2008-09.
To be eligible for taking CLAT-2009, a candidate should
have passed Higher Secondary School / Intermediate
Examination (10+2) or its equivalent examination with
not less than 50% marks in aggregate (45%
in case of SC/ST/OBC* and Persons with Disability*) and
should not be more than 20 years of age on
1st July, 2009 (22 years incase of SC/ST/OBC*
and 25 years in case of persons with disability*).
Subject to reservation at the University
concerned.
Candidates appearing for the qualifying examination
can also appear provisionally. However, they shall have
to produce proof of having passed the qualifying exam
before or at the time counselling with detailed mark
sheet.
Note: Candidates with compartment / supplementary
in any subject in the qualifying examination are not eligible
for the admission.
PROCEDURE FOR OBTAINING OF APPLICATION FORM AND SUBMISSION
The
Application Forms are available from 12th January,
2009 at the nominated branches of Indian Bank, State
Bank of India and eleven National Law Schools. The addresses
of the branches of banks are available
on http://www.clat.ac.in/
website.
The
Application Form can also be downloaded from CLAT website
and the duly filled-in Form in own hand writing
should be sent to CLAT Office along with a demand draft
for Rs.2,500/- (Rs.2,000/- in case of SC/ST)
drawn in favor of ‘Convenor, CLAT-2009 (NALSAR)’
payable at Hyderabad.
The
Application Form can also be obtained from CLAT office
by sending a demand draft for Rs. 2,500/- (Rs. 2,000/-
in case of SC / ST with proof) drawn in favor of ‘Convenor,
CLAT-2009 (NALSAR)’ payable at Hyderabad.
The
last date for submission of duly filled-in Application
Form is 10th April, 2009.
Candidates
who wish to apply under Foreign National Category are
required to check the instructions and use
the Application Form provided for that purpose on CLAT
website. For further information and details, candidates
are required to visit website of the concerned University.
Note: Incomplete applications will be
rejected
FACILITIES
The University is fully residential, with complete residential
facilities for students and staff including transport,
health center, bank etc. The campus is Wi-Fi (Wireless
Fidelity) enabled and provides wireless Internet connectivity.
Halls of Residence
The University has separate residential halls for boys
and girls, with a common dinning hall. While senior studetns
are provided with single occupancy rooms. The rest are
accommodated in double occupancy rooms. The halls have
common room facilities with indoor games, besides a TV
and telephones (only for incoming calls). Two private
telephone booths are available for the students.

IT Services
The campus is Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity) enabled and provides
wireless Internet connectivity. The internet center has
about 40 Thin Clients with Linux Operating System. Besides
another five Desktop Systems for usage by faculty and
students are also available at the Internet Centre and
seven in the Library. A separate bay is also provided
for the laptop users. The Internet center is supported
with a main server and with a bandwidth of 2 Mbps from
Airtel and 256 Kbps from VSNL. The University has in place
its video conferencing facility to facilitate and connect
other Law Schools in India and abroad.
Mess / Canteen
The common mess serves non-vegetarian food three days
a week.
Sports Facilities
NLS has provided sports facilities. Currently the School
has a basketball court, a volley ball/throw ball court,
a tennis court on the campus and indoor facilities for
table tennis in the Halls of Residence. Apart from this
NLS has fitness center and Gym facilities with state of
the art equipments.
Bank Facilities
An Extension Counter of the Indian Bank is open for transactions
on specified days of the week from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Students
can open accounts with the Indian Bank.
Healthcare
A stadium has been constructed and equipping it with state-of-the-art
facilities is under way. Play fields for various sports
are under construction. A Gymnasium, Tennis Court and
Swimming Pool are in the pipeline.
Facilities For Conference / Seminars
NALSAR offers a variety of facilities for hosting conferences
and seminars. It has 10 air-conditioned conference/seminar
halls, which can accommodate various people ranging from
25-250 with state of the art communication and presentation
facilities. NALSAR also has a full-fledged Moot-Court
Hall, where international moot court competitions like
the Manfred Lachs have been held.
