Introduction
HNLU is a Residential University and is sixth in the series
of National Law Schools in India. HNLU has been included
in the list of the Universities maintained by the University
Grants Commission under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956
and has been declared fit to receive Central assistance
in terms of the rules framed under Section 12 (B) of the
UGC Act, 1956. The university is recognized by the Bar
Council of India under section 7 of the Advocates Act.
Hon'ble Mr. Justice K.G. Balakrishnan, the Chief Justice
of India is the Visitor of the University, Hon'ble
Mr. Justice Rajeev Gupta, the Chief Justice of High Court
of Chattisgarh is the Chancellor and Prof. (Dr.)
M.K. Srivastava, is the Vice-Chancellor of the University. |
Courses
offered :
B.A, LL.B. (Hons.)
NLSIU offers B.A., L.L.B. (Hons), integrated five years
full time semester course.
Eligibility :
Candidate
willing to take admission for B.A., L.L.B. (Hons) program
has to go through the Common Law Admission
Test (CLAT). CLAT would be conducted hereafter every
year by each of National Law Schools on rotation
as per the criterion of seniority. The NLSIU, Bangalore,
the oldest of the National Law Schools will set
the process in motion by undertaking to conduct the
admission test for the academic year 2008-09.
To be eligible for taking CLAT-2009, a candidate should
have passed Higher Secondary School / Intermediate
Examination (10+2) or its equivalent examination with
not less than 50% marks in aggregate (45%
in case of SC/ST/OBC* and Persons with Disability*) and
should not be more than 20 years of age on
1st July, 2009 (22 years incase of C/ST/OBC*
and Persons with Disability*).
Candidates appearing for Standard XII examination in the
year of admission shall also be permitted to take
the National Entrance Test, but their admission to the
course shall be subject to fulfilling the conditions stipulated
in the Regulations at the time of admission and production
of documentary evidence of their eligibility.
All admissions shall be completed before 15th
May of every year.

Note: Candidates with compartment / supplementary
in any subject in the qualifying examinations are not
eligible for the admission.
PROCEDURE FOR OBTAINING OF APPLICATION FORM AND SUBMISSION
The
Application Forms are available from 12th January,
2009 at the nominated branches of Indian Bank, State
Bank of India and eleven National Law Schools. The addresses
of the branches of banks are available
on http://www.clat.ac.in/
website.
The
Application Form can also be downloaded from CLAT website
and the duly filled-in Form in own hand writing
should be sent to CLAT Office along with a demand draft
for Rs.2,500/- (Rs.2,000/- in case of SC/ST)
drawn in favor of ‘Convenor, CLAT-2009 (NALSAR)’
payable at Hyderabad.
The
Application Form can also be obtained from CLAT office
by sending a demand draft for Rs. 2,500/- (Rs. 2,000/-
in case of SC / ST with proof) drawn in favor of ‘Convenor,
CLAT-2009 (NALSAR)’ payable at Hyderabad.
The
last date for submission of duly filled-in Application
Form is 10th April, 2009.
Candidates
who wish to apply under Foreign National Category are
required to check the instructions and use
the Application Form provided for that purpose on CLAT
website. For further information and details, candidates
are required to visit website of the concerned University.

rejected

FACILITIES
Currently, the university functions from a classical heritage
building adjacent to Raj Bhawan in the heart of the city.
The new University campus is being constructed at village
Uperwala, about 22kms from the city campus. The new campus
is built over 65 acres of land. The academic block consists
of three-storied library with A.C. reading hall and with
fully A.C. equipped lab with 150 computers. The entire
campus id wi-fi enabled. The academic block houses the
State-of-the-Art Moot Court Halls.
Library
The library of the HNLU is considered as a laboratory
of a scientific institute, where the apparatus for the
law students are the classic law books, case law reports
and journals that are available in full sets. The HNLU
Library has adopted an open access system with efficient
library automation package installed.
IT
Services
HNLU has a fully air conditioned Computer Lab with sufficiently
large number of Desktop Computers with Internet connectivity.
All the legal databases are made available to the students
of HNLU through CD-ROMs and subscription to Web based
databases like Manupatra and Westlaw International. Wi-fi
facility provides the students a wire free access to the
web resources through their laptops.
Mess / Canteen
HNLU has a Mess and a Canteen. Since HNLU is a residential
University all the food requirements of students are well
taken care of by the University. A Canteen is also available
on the Campus. Light Snacks, tea, coffee, soup, cool
drinks, milk, toffees, stationeries and other general
items like soaps, cosmetics, are available in the Canteen.
Sports Facilities
HNLU provides indoor badminton courts and volleyball courts.
Adequate facilities are available for sporting activities
and the Sports Committee, a student body, takes care of
the sporting requirements of the students of HNLU.
Healthcare
The University has signed a MOU with the Apollo Hospital
to provide health care facilities to the students. Students
are entitled to free consultation at the Apollo Hospital,
Raipur and are also entitled to get discount on the cost
of drugs and diagnostic services.
