MHT-CET 2010 : Selection Procedure
Government of Maharashtra shall conduct a single combined “Common
Entrance Test” MHT-CET-2010 for all Health Sciences, Engineering
and Pharmacy degree courses for the academic year 2010-2011.
The Competent Authority for the MHT-CET-2010: Director, Medical
Education and Research, Mumbai MHT-
CET 2010 will be held on: Thursday: 6th
May 2010.

The results of MHT-CET 2010 will be made available at the website
of Directorate of Medical Education and Research (http://www.dmer.org)
and of the Directorate of Technical Education (http://www.dte.org.in).
Competent Authority MHT-CET-2010
The Selection Process shall however be separate for degree courses
in Health Sciences, Engineering / Technology and Pharmacy. The
respective Competent Authorities shall devise the system of
Counseling/Allotment. This procedure shall be governed by the
regulations and directions as specified by the Government of
Maharashtra from time to time.
It is specifically made clear that the CET proposed to be conducted
in terms of these rules will also govern the admissions of the
Autonomous Institutes [viz.
i) Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI), Mumbai,
ii) College of Engineering, Pune, (Formerly Government College
of Engg., Pune)
iii) Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai
iv) Shri Guru Gobind Singhji Institute of Engineering &
Technology (SGGSIET), Nanded
v) Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli. &
Vi) Vishwakrma Institute of Technology, Pune (VIT)].
However the Admission process for these Autonomous institutes
(and of any other Autonomous Institute upon receiving the permission
from the State Government) will be separately carried out by
the competent authority appointed by these institutes.
Eligibility of Maharashtra State Candidate and OMS candidate
for appearing for MHT-CET
2010:
Candidate should be an Indian National and should have passed
/ appeared* the HSC (Std. XII) examination of Maharashtra State
Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent
examination with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
Note:
*Candidates who have appeared for the qualifying examination
i.e. HSC (Std. XII) or its equivalent examination during the
academic year 2009-10 and whose results are not declared till
the last date of submission of application form are eligible
to appear for MHT-CET 2010, however for admission to first year
of degree courses in Engineering/Technology, such candidates
must fulfill the eligibility criteria as mentioned in rules
mentioned below..
Maharashtra State candidates and OMS candidates are eligible
to appear for the MHT-CET 2010 conducted by the Competent Authority
of Government of Maharashtra for the academic year 2010-11.
Even though Outside Maharashtra State (OMS) candidates are eligible
to appear for the MHT-CET 2010, it is specifically made clear
that such OMS candidates will not be able to participate in
the Centralized Admission Process on the basis of score in MHT-CET
2010. These OMS candidates will be able to apply for the admissions
against the Institute Level Seats ONLY in the Unaided Private
Engineering Colleges/Institutes on the basis of score in MHT-CET
2010.
The facility of Constitutional Reservation is not available
for the OMS candidates. Therefore all OMS candidates will be
treated as OPEN/GENERAL category candidates in the entire admission
process.
ENGINEERING ELIGIBILITY
Eligibility criteria for Maharashtra State Candidate and Outside
Maharashtra State Candidate
for admission to first year of degree courses
in Engineering/Technology:
Candidate should be an Indian National and should have passed
the HSC (Std.XII) examination of Maharashtra State Board of
Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination
with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics AND
Secured minimum 50% marks i.e. not less than 150 marks out of
300 marks (minimum 45% marks i.e. not less than 135 marks out
of 300 marks in case of candidates of Backward class categories
belonging only to Maharashtra State) in the subjects Physics,
Chemistry and Mathematics added together AND Obtained a non
zero score in subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics added
together at MHT-CET 2010.
For selection to Engineering and Pharmacy courses Director,
Technical Education, Mumbai will be the Competent Authority.
Part I: - Physics and Chemistry
- Entry in examination hall: 09.15 a.m.

- Examination commences: 10.00 a.m
- Last entry permitted in examination hall (No candidate will

Candidates appearing for Biology (Part II) shall continue to
sit for Part II, those who are not appearing in Biology (Candidates
at PCM Subject only) should
leave the examination campus.

Eligibility criteria for Maharashtra State Candidate for admission
to first year of degree
courses in Engineering / Technology in Autonomous
Institutions:
Candidate should be an Indian National and should have passed
the HSC (Std.XII) examination of Maharashtra State Board of
Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination
with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics AND
Secured minimum 50% marks i.e. not less than 150 marks out of
300 marks (minimum 45% marks i.e. not less than 135 marks out
of 300 marks in case of candidates of Backward class categories
belonging only to Maharashtra State) in the subjects Physics,
Chemistry and Mathematics added together AND Obtained a minimum
110 score (minimum 100 score in case of candidates of Backward
class categories belonging only to Maharashtra State) in subjects
Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics added together at MHT-CET
2010.
Eligibility Criteria for Foreign National / Foreign student
/ PIO / Children of Indian workers
in the Gulf countries / Children of NRI:
Candidate should have passed the HSC (Std. XII) examination
of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary
Education or its equivalent examination with subjects English,
Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and secured minimum 50% marks
i.e. not less than 150 marks out of 300 marks in the subjects
Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics added together.
The eligibility of the candidates passing the HSC (Std. XII)
equivalent examination from a
school/college/Examination Board situate outside
India shall be further decided by the University
Authorities to which the candidate is admitted.
Hence such candidates are advised to get their eligibility
verified by the respective University Authorities
before seeking admission to the Engineering/Technology
degree courses in the State of Maharashtra.
The candidate belonging to this type is not required to appear
for the MHT-CET 2010/AIEEE 2010.
Eligibility criteria for Candidates who are sons/daughters of
Defence service personnel:
In addition to the basic eligibility criterion mentioned above
candidates who have appeared& obtained a non zero score
in the MHT-CET 2010 and satisfying any one of the following
criteria as are eligible to seek admission against seats for
sons/daughters of defence service personnel.
Candidate is a son/daughter of ex-service personnel who is domiciled
in Maharashtra State
Candidate is a son/daughter of active service personnel who
is domiciled in Maharashtra State
Candidate is a son/daughter of active service personnel
Who is transferred to Maharashtra State but is not domiciled
in Maharashtra State
Who is not domiciled in Maharashtra State but his/her family
is stationed in Maharashtra State under the
provision of retention of family accommodation
at the last duty station on the grounds of childrens’
education, provided further that, such candidate
should have appeared and passed the HSC (Std.XII)
examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary
and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent
examination from a school/college situate in the
State of Maharashtra. Note:
This provision is NOT available to the children of CIVILIAN
STAFF who is working/ who has worked with the Indian Defence
Services.
Eligibility criteria for Candidates who are physically handicapped:
In addition to the basic qualification mentioned in rule no.
2.2, candidate who has appeared & obtained a non zero score
in the MHT-CET 2010 and suffering from any one of the following
permanent disability is eligible to seek admission against seats
for Physically Handicapped candidates [only Maharashtra State
candidates (Type A, B and D) are eligible to apply for admission
against these seats]
Candidate who is visually impaired (blind) candidate (type P1)
Candidate who is speech & hearing impaired (deaf & dumb)
candidate (type P2)
Candidate who is with orthopedic disorders, learning disabilities,
Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphica,
Spastic (type P3) Note:
The certificate (proforma F/F-1) should clearly state that the
extent of disability is more than 40% and the disability is
permanent in nature.
Other eligibility criteria for specialized branches of Engineering:
Candidates seeking admission to some special courses or under
some special provisions have to fulfill the following additional
eligibility criteria.
Admission to Bio- Medical/Bio-tech Engineering course:
Candidates seeking admission to Biomedical/Bio-Tech Engineering
course should have passed in the subject of Biology in the qualifying
examination in addition to fulfilling the Eligibility criteria
as mentioned in the above rules.
Admission to Mining Engineering course:
Female candidates are not eligible for admission to Mining Engineering
course.
Admission to Marine Engineering course:
Candidates aspiring to take admission to Marine Engineering
Course in the following institute should directly contact the

Eligibility criteria of Candidates who have passed / passing
Diploma in Engineering /
Technology and seeking admission to First Year
of Engineering /Technology inUnaided
Institutes:
Diploma holders who have passed the Diploma course in Engineering/Technology
with minimum of 50% marks and medium of instruction as English
from the Polytechnics affiliated to MSBTE or AICTE approved
autonomous Polytechnics in Maharashtra State ( for Maharashtra
State Candidates) or such polytechnics situate inside/outside
the State of Maharashtra ( for Outside Maharashtra State Candidates).
Note:
To resolve a tie i.e. more than one candidate securing equal
aggregate marks in Final year of the Diploma
exam, following order of preference shall be adopted:
marks in Maths at SSC, Grand Total at SSC.
Eligible Diploma candidates shall be considered for Admission
against the Institute level seats in Unaided
Private Institutes only. The details of the admission
process for filling application for admission against
institute level seats shall be made available in
the separate information brochure.
Such Diploma candidates are not eligible to appear for the MHT-CET
2010. General Notes:
In case the maximum marks in individual subject is other than
100, convert the marks out of 100 for
individual subject but do not round off these marks.
If the sum of the converted marks of three individual
subjects without rounding off works out to be a
figure with fraction then fraction up to two decimal places
will only be considered
Example: If a candidate obtains 101 marks out
of 200 in Physics, 86 marks out of 150 in Chemistry and 40 Marks
out of 100 in Mathematics, then the sum of marks obtained works
out to be 227 out of 450 marks. If it is converted out of 300,
it works out to be 151.33. However if the marks in individual
subjects are converted out of 100, then the marks are as 50.5
in Physics, 57.3333 in Chemistry and 40 in Mathematics. It means
the sum of converted marks of individual subject is 147.8333,
which is 147.83 upto two fractions. Hence the candidate is not
eligible for admission under OPEN Category.
If letter grades are assigned instead of marks at SSC, HSC or
its equivalent examination the candidate
must obtain the certificate of conversion of letter
of grades into marks from the competent authority where
from the candidate has passed the examination.
The candidate should produce such certificate at the time
of submission of application form. The Eligibility
shall be decided based on the equivalent marks submitted
by such candidates.
If the candidate reappears for the qualifying examination (Std.
XII or its equivalent) with all subjects then
the marks obtained in the latest examination will
only be considered for determining the eligibility criterion.
PHARMACY ELIGIBILITY
Eligibility criteria for Maharashtra State Candidate and Outside
Maharashtra State Candidate
for admission to first year of degree courses
in Pharmacy:
Candidate should be an Indian National and should have passed
the HSC (Std.XII) examination of Maharashtra State Board of

Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics added together AND Obtained
a non zero score in subjects Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics
added together at MHT-CET 2010.

The candidate belonging to this type Stated in rule 2.3, is
not required to appear for the MHT-CET 2010.
Eligibility criteria for Candidates who are sons/daughters of

from AICTE approved Polytechnics.
Note:
To resolve a tie i.e. more than one candidate securing equal
aggregate marks in Final year of the Diploma
exam, following order of preference shall be adopted:
marks in Mathematics at SSC, Grand Total at SSC.
Pharmacy
Eligible Diploma candidates shall be considered for Admission
against the Institute level seats in Unaided
Private Institutes only. The detail of the admission
process for filling seats is specified in annexure.
Such Diploma candidates are not eligible to appear for the MHT-CET
2010.
General Notes:

HEALTH SCIENCES ELIGIBILITY
The seats in Health Science Courses are at all Government /
Municipal Corporation and Government aided Health Science institutions.
The respective Competent Authorities shall devise the system
of Counseling and Selection. This procedure shall be governed
by the regulations and directions specified by the Govt. of
Maharashtra from time to time.
The merit list of MHT-CET-2010 will be utilized for the selection
to Veterinary Colleges in Maharashtra.
The Registrar, Maharashtra Animal & Fishery Science University
(MAFSU), Nagpur, who is the Competent Authority for selection
to Veterinary colleges, will notify the details of selection
process separately.
Schedule & Test Design:
The MHT-CET-2010 will consist of three question papers. Each
paper is of 100 marks.
Paper I: Physics & Chemistry (50 marks each)
Paper II: Biology (Botany & Zoology - 50 marks each)
Paper III: Mathematics (100 Marks)
The candidate must be an Indian National. Persons of Indian
Origin (PIO)/ Non Resident Indian (NRI)/Overseas citizen of
India (OCI) are not eligible. (Exception: Annexure “J”).
The candidate must be born on or before 31st December
1993 to be eligible to appear for MHTCET- 2010. However, for
admission to Ayurveda and Unani courses, candidate must be born
on or before 1st October 1993. The Birth certificate
indicating name of the candidate, Secondary School Certificate
i.e. SSC or equivalent examination certificate or School Leaving
Certificate endorsing the date of birth will constitute a valid
proof.
Upper age limit and number of attempts criteria (to be implemented
from Entrance Examination 2011 i.e.
Academic Year 2011-2012)
Upper age limit is 25 years as on 31st December of
the year of the entrance examination. Further provided
that this Upper age shall be relaxed by a period
of 5 (five) years for the candidates belonging to
constitutional reservation (to be implemented from
Entrance Examination 2011 i.e. Academic Year 2011-
2012)
The number of attempts which a candidates can avail at Entrance
Examination shall be limited to 3 (three)
uniformly for all the candidates. (to be implemented
from Entrance Examination 2011 i.e. Academic Year
2011-2012)
The candidate must be medically fit and must submit a certificate
of medical fitness at the time of
Preference form filling.
The candidate must have passed the SSC or equivalent examination
from an Institution situated in the
state of Maharashtra.
The candidate must have passed the qualifying examination i.e.
Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC/12th
Standard) or equivalent examination, from an Institution
situated in the State of Maharashtra with English,
Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology)
at the time of admission.
Eligibility criteria of Qualifying Examination for various courses:
For MBBS/BDS/BAMS/BPMT:
A candidate belonging to Open Category must have obtained not
less than 50% (i.e. 150 out of 300) marks in Physics, Chemistry
and Biology taken together at the HSC (or equivalent) Examination.
A candidate belonging to constitutional reservation backward
class and constitutional reservation with physically handicapped
claim must have obtained not less than 40% (i.e. 120 out of
300) marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together
at the HSC (or equivalent) Examination. Physically handicapped
candidate in General category must secure not less than 45%
marks in Physics, Chemistry & Biology (PCB) taken together
the at HSC (or equivalent) Examination.
For BSc. Nursing:
A candidate belonging to Open category must have obtained not
less than 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English
taken together at HSC (or equivalent) examination. A candidate
belonging to constitutional reservation must have obtained not
less than 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English
taken together at HSC(or equivalent) Exam.
For BHMS, BUMS, BPTh, BOTh, BASLP and BP&O courses:
Passing grade at HSC/12th Standard or equivalent
examination is however necessary For admission to BP&O candidates
who have passed 12th standard examination with Physics, Chemistry,
Biology and / or Mathematics are eligible.
For admission to BASLP, candidates who have passed 12th
standard examination with Physics, Biology, Chemistry and/or
Mathematics and/or Computer Science are eligible. The candidates
who are appearing for qualifying examination i.e. HSC (or equivalent
exam.) in February/March 2010 are eligible to appear for MHT-CET-2010,
however they must fulfill the eligibility condition at the time
of filling up of the Preference Form.
Exception for SSC (10th Std. or equivalent examination):
Candidate who has passed SSC or equivalent examination from
an institute situated outside Maharashtra State and HSC or equivalent
examination from within Maharashtra State is eligible for seeking
admission to the courses in Health Science provided that he/she
is DOMICILE of Maharashtra.
Exception for SSC (10th) and HSC (12th)
or equivalent examinations: Children of employees of the Government
of Maharashtra or its Undertaking.
Children of employees of the Government of Maharashtra or
its Undertaking posted on
deputation or transfer to a place outside the
State of Maharashtra, or transferred from
outside to a place situated within the State
of Maharashtra:
The children of such employees of Government of Maharashtra
or its undertaking who have joined service
since beginning at a place situated outside the
State of Maharashtra but who have been transferred to a
place situated within the State of Maharashtra
shall be eligible for admission even though such children
might have passed the S.S.C.(Std. X) and/or H.S.C.(Std.XII)
or equivalent exam from the recognized
Institutions situated outside the State of Maharashtra,
provided that such an employee of Government of
Maharashtra or its Undertaking must have been posted/
transferred/ deputed at a place of work located in
the State of Maharashtra and also must have reported-for-duty
i.e. joined the duty before the last date of
submission of Preference Form.
The candidates belonging to the aforesaid category at (1) shall
be required to produce the requisite
Certificate from the Office at which such an employee
of Government of Maharashtra or its Undertaking
has reported for duty as a proof that such employee
has joined the office and/or reported for duty before
the cut off date for eligibility i.e. the last
date of submission of Preference Form. The certificate should
contain full name of the employee, designation,
transfer/posting order number and date, date of joining
and present status of posting. A copy of transfer/posting
order should also be produced at the time of filling
the preference form.
The children of such employees of Government of Maharashtra
or its Undertaking who have been
transferred or deputed to a place situated outside
the State of Maharashtra or who have returned to the
State of Maharashtra after initial transfer/deputation
shall be eligible for admission even though such
children might have passed the S.S.C. (Std. X)
and/or H.S.C. (Std. XII) or equivalent examinations from
the recognized Institutions situated outside the
State of Maharashtra.
The candidates belonging to the aforesaid category at (3) above
shall be required to produce the requisite
Certificate from the Office at which such an employee
of Government of Maharashtra or its Undertaking
has reported for duty. The certificate should contain
full name of the employee, designation, transfer order
number and date, date of joining and present status
of posting. A copy of transfer order should also be
produced at the time of filling the preference
form.

Undertaking shall be eligible for admission
even though they might have passed the S.S.C. (Std.X)

Government of India or its Undertaking must have
been transferred/posted at a place of work, located in
the State of Maharashtra and also must have reported
for duty i.e. joined the duty before the last date of
submission of Preference Form.
The candidates belonging to the aforesaid category (1) shall
be required to produce the requisite Certificate
from the Office at which such an employee of Government
of India or its Undertaking has reported for duty
as a proof of the fact that such employee has joined
the office and/or reported for duty before the cut off
date for eligibility i.e., the last date of submission
of Preference Form. The certificate should contain full
name of the employee, designation, transfer/posting
order number and date, date of joining and present
status of posting. A copy of transfer/posting order
should also be produced at the time of filling the
preference form.
CET-Marks Eligibility For Admission to MBBS & BDS Courses:
A candidate belonging to open category must secure not less
than 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry & Biology (PCB) taken
together at Common Entrance Test i.e. MHT-CET-2010. A candidate
belonging to constitutional reservation (Annexure B) and constitutional
reservation with physically handicapped claimed candidate must
secure not less than 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry & Biology
(PCB) taken together in the MHT-CET-2010. Physically handicapped
candidate in General catogery must secure not less than 45%
marks in Physics, Chemistry & Biology (PCB) taken together
in the MHT-CET-2010.
CET Marks for Admission to BAMS/BHMS/BUMS/BPTh/BOTh/BASLP/BP&O/BPMT
and B.Sc.
Nursing:
A candidate will be selected on the basis of merit in Common
Entrance Test (MHT-CET-2010) to above stated courses.
Additional Eligibility for BUMS:
Candidate should have passed SSC (or equivalent) examination
from the recognized board with Urdu as one of the subjects.
Cut-off date for the eligibility:
The eligibility of the candidate shall be determined and/or
decided for all purposes including for applicability of all
these Rules and Regulations by considering the last date of
submission of Preference Form as the cut off date. It is made
abundantly clear that if a candidate is found ineligible as
on the last date of submission of preference form, in terms
of these Rules and Regulations, and if such an ineligible candidate
acquires the requisite eligibility after the aforesaid cut off
date (i.e. the last date of submission of preference form),
such subsequent acquisition of eligibility will not make an
ineligible candidate eligible for any purpose whatsoever, much
less for the purpose of admission.
The selected candidates who have cancelled their admission after
the cut-off-date declared by the respective central councils
for the admission to Health Science Courses in the year/(s),2008-09
and 2009-10, by the Competent Authority (MHT-CET-2008 and MHT-CET-2009)
are not eligible to appear at MHT-CET 2010.
